Personal question about heavy periods!

If you experience very heavy periods, and in a position to measure your flow (cup users really, I guess) would you mind sharing.

I have just discovered I am anaemic and I have started to measure my flow. When I looked up what is considered 'normal' - 35-40ml - I was rather shocked.

I'm wondering how far from normal I actually am!

Good news, and I like your thinking!

I've come back from work with such intense lower back pain that I can't bend over. I don't know whether it is just something unconnected or whether it could be to do with the bigger issue!

Oh no! Sad You really need to get it checked. You may have been sitting funny and pulled it, but it's best to see a proper qualified person. I hope you're OK Thanks

I saw the GP today. My Hb level was 10.9 and my Ferritin was 5 which she said was a bit of a concern.

I am sticking with the iron tablets for now, but I think they might be upsetting my stomach a bit and she has referred me to one of the other GP's for discussion about fitting a Mirena.

Slightly disappointed that she didn't fall off her chair when I told her that I lost 350ml of blood during my last period, but she did look slightly shocked. I suspect she thought I'd missed out a decimal point somewhere, until she saw my blood test results! Grin

You can get liquid iron which doesn't upset your stomach, Ferrous Femurate or something Smile It's great that you're getting it sorted Smile

Thanks, I hope things will get sorted, but I can't seem to get away from Mirena horror stories, so I'm having a bit of a wobble about that!

Hope you appt with the surgeon goes well. Smile
