How old are you tash? If you are under 35 I'd trust the doctor, relax and have some fun. Maybe arrange a couple of date nights with DH Smile

ilovepowerhoop · 21/09/2014 15:59

from what I have read 80% of those trying to get pregnant after mirena will conceive within 1 year

biscuitsandbandages · 21/09/2014 16:03

Very rarely people can have a delayed return to fertility but with the mirena its usually a pretty instant return.

We wont remove coils if someone has had sex in the previous week as you can ovulate straight away and any sperm still alive could result in pregnancy.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 21/09/2014 16:19

Agree biscuit but with the statistics that powerhoop quotes! I still think the OP needs to be realistic and assume that normal fertility is getting pregnant by 12 months Smile

OP can I suggest a bottle of wine and a pair of stockings for when you want to celebrate having your coil removed with DH Smile

biscuitsandbandages · 21/09/2014 16:37

That kinda is normal fertility.
80 to 85% of couples actively trying to conceive will.be pregnant within 12m

90 to 95% within 24m

Up to a year to fall pregnant is normal.

Start taking folic acid now and accept it is likely to happen sometime between now and next year :-) have fun!

biscuitsandbandages · 21/09/2014 16:38

Something like the depo is different. It can take a year before your period even returns.

ilovepowerhoop · 21/09/2014 17:19

yes the depo can have a really bad effect on fertility and it can take a year or more for you to even ovulate never mind get pregnant.

80% is a more or less normal chance of getting pregnant within 1 year regardless of having had the coil removed.

tashpackard · 21/09/2014 17:47

JiltedJohnsJulie · 21/09/2014 17:49

tash if you are 30 I wouldn't even worry about it for a year. Just enjoy the fun and take your frolic acid.

ilovepowerhoop · 21/09/2014 17:50

ha ha at frolic acid Grin

tashpackard · 21/09/2014 17:52

yeah but wiv my fiance being 15 yrs older it aint that easy

OP posts:
wintersdawn · 21/09/2014 17:54

At 32 it took me 3 months to get a regular cycle back and a further 4 to conceive, at 34 it took 2 months to get a cycle and 3 months to conceive.
As others have said relax and enjoy yourself, I refused to clock watch on either occasion and I'm sure it helped.

tashpackard · 21/09/2014 17:59

we expected it to take some time like up2 6 mth but not a whole year and were just a lil shocked when he told us

OP posts:
JiltedJohnsJulie · 21/09/2014 18:27

Please don't be shocked, just relax take the frolic and frolic. Think I've got a brand name...Grin

JiltedJohnsJulie · 21/09/2014 18:28

tashpackard · 22/09/2014 07:02
