had ear infection about4 months ago before we moved..got antibiotics and it went away..antibiotic label actually says, if not used for a while(or something along these lines)..pump spray two or three times to release blockage then spray into ear...so anyway, two/three weeks ago, ear hurting same as when infected..got spray out and been using..but although not sore/swollen now..its weeping smelly creamy gunge..stopped few days ago then back again today???just waxy muck or trip back to doc?

weeping smelly gunge...(ick!) sounds infected - was the spray out of date? i'd go to get rechecked, sounds awful..poor you..

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 25/09/2006 22:20

Might be a perforated ear drum.. so you might need stronger oral anti bs.

MoreTeaAnyone · 25/09/2006 22:21

I thought mine was infected but the doc said a build up of pressure in my sinus. My ear wasn;t sore but the gunge leaking out was a PITA

StrawberryMoon · 25/09/2006 22:21

no not out of date and it is an antibiotic spray.

it all crusts up(sorry)during the night when i lay on my side and now when ive been cleaning it is just running!..dont know if burst ear drum not experienced it before?

Yes a weeping ear is worthy of a trip to the GP [waves finger warningly]

MoreTeaAnyone · 25/09/2006 22:23

strawberrymoon is sounds exactly like my problem.

StrawberryMoon · 25/09/2006 22:24

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands ..

LOL.. it's just that ears can be problematic for years if left to fester.. and painful at that.

StrawberryMoon · 25/09/2006 22:27

my estranged brother had ear probs whilst on hol in america..they gave him ear drops and(dont ask me how) he mixed it up with some small bottle of cleaning fluid and is now 50% deaf in one ear 75% deaf in other!..totally un related to this tho!

I was given ear drops (from the doc): Otospor

The problem cleared up within 2 days. It was fantastic. I have to take them 3 times a day. But all the symptoms have gone.

Oh I nearly forgot I was told to take nasal spray aswell. Emmmm, sorry can't remember the name. NOt a long lasting one, doc said too much of those can be bad. Blue packaging. (It;s downstairs and I'm in bed)

StrawberryMoon · 25/09/2006 22:35

so i think it may be trip to doc?
gunna be next week at earliest now tho..asked BIL he's a pharmacist, but no advice..said it would need A.B!
