Has anyone had Botox treatment for migraine?

I've been a long time sufferer of migraines and i am on course to have some Botox treatment in an attempt to alleviate or indeed put an end to the blasted things. I'm slightly nervous to say the least! Has anyone had this done before? If so what can I expect during the treatment & dare I ask after?!!!

Not me, but at the botox clinic (its chaos at ours, they book a shedload of people for the same time) I've chatted to people who have botox for migraine and who tell me its really effective. I have it in my arm, and the needle is teeny, and the amounts injected pretty small per go, so its not painful - I do only need 3-4 sites done, and I don't know how many it is for migraine

Thanks CMOT for your reply. From the information that i've gathered myself & been told there are around 23 - 30 injection sites for migraine - Shock mainly around the scalp, neck & temple area. I'm bricking it to put it mildly! I just hope it does work & eventually I can, in time come off all the tablets I'm on Smile

I've had four lots of Botox now for my migraines. The treatments are done 3 months apart and have made a significant improvement both in the frequency and severity of my migraines.

There are a lot of injections, but it is a tiny, tiny needle so it doesn't hurt. After the first course, for some reason I did have really bad headaches for a week (which can happen) but I've been fine after the rest of the courses. It's done wonders for the lines on my forehead too!

TheFairyCaravan - thanks for your reply! You mentioned the lines on your forehead, I'm not really bothered about mine, I have a fringe Smile but somebody did mention about droopy eyelids - which kind of freaked me out a bit - I have hooded eyes & droopy eyelids anyway so I have visions of looking like a female Simon Cowell after this!!! But I suppose when I'm headache free I won't mind Confused

My eyelids didn't droop Have, he always asks me if they have. If anything my eyebrows raise up a bit so I have a bit of a shocked look about me for a few weeks. I have a fringe too, so you couldn't see my lines before but now they are gone!

I was the first person from my GP's surgery to have it done, so I have bee quizzed quite a bit. I really would recommend it. Towards the end of the 3 months I notice an increase in the migraines again so I presume it loses its effectiveness.

I read the other day they are trialling it for back and joint pain. I have severe problems with my back and pelvis so am very interested in this.

Good luck with it, I hope you get some relief. Smile
