Asthma - has anyone used an air purifier in bedroom?

Have seen air purifier for sale that claims to be able to eliminate 99.99% of airborne allergens. It costs £140 (www.Grobag.com). Has anyone bought one and did you feel it made a difference? At the minute I am hoovering each day, leaving windows open, and changing all bedding every other day, in an effort to keep dust mites down, as DS has developed asthma.
Thanks

Have you been doing the same for a while? I noticed that after several days of constant cleaning (and removal of offenders) the spaces become more easier to mantain and deep cleaning is not required that often.

I have not one but will keep an eye on this in case I get convinced.

tutu -- I will also be watching this as I've been thinking about this purifier as well!

Have been doing this "in depth" cleaning for nearly a month now, and do feel it has made a difference to DS. But he is on preventative inhaler morning and night, so dont know if it is hard to know which is making the real difference - it or the cleaning, and dont want to risk reducing the inhaler at the minute as he has a cold.

If he has a cold he may need to have a higher dose of preventer until the cold subsides. I would wait until the cold is gone to get the purifier anyway, otherwise you wouldn't know if the improvement is due to it or that his cold is gone.

My son was diagnosed in Aug. And has been on the preventor inhaler 3x a day. He had gone undiagnosed, as all thought it was alergies or a cold until I had to take him to the dr when he started going blue at the swimming pool ! Dr says it will take time to build up. Then MIL comes out with the fact that DH had asthma as child for her not saying before. But he outgrew it at 10. Slight rant, sorry off the track.

I meant to say, DS already has wood floors and little soft furnishings. My biggest problem is his snugglies ! do your DC have any, and what to do you with them. Someone suggested freezing them for 6 hrs, but he still has a nap, so no 6 hr window. Is 4 enough?
