Ideas for helping post surgery person

Hello All,

I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to put this, but I can't think where else to post it.

I have a relative who is about to undergo some knee surgery. He is a real fidget-bum and you never see him sit still for more then five minutes. So having to sit down and recover from this surgery is going to be difficult for him.

He isn't into TV particularly and I've never seen him read a book.

We are thinking of putting together a hamper of a few bits and pieces to keep him occupied as a get well gift.

So far I've thought of patience playing cards for solitaire and maybe one of those models that you put together (he is very practical with his hands).

Please could you share if you have any ideas, or perhaps experience of what helped you.

Thank you

He'll love the physio and occupational therapy input then as they'll try to get him on his feet ASAP. Can he be lent an iPad? Hours of fun watching YouTube and can be loaded up with music he likes.

Unless your surgeon has said otherwise, patients are encouraged to get up and be active after surgery.
Not saying run a marathon or climb a mountain but long periods of inactivity are discouraged.
