Changing my doctors

Hi I have contacted a new doctors practise and filled in all the forms. I have my reasons for wanting to move as I am separating from my husband of 18 years and I am now relying on my friends and family for transport and they are at the other doctors surgery and also I want a fresh start after the break up and would like a new gp. The old gp has asked why I want to move. The new practise has accepted me and the kids and we have been deregistered from the old practise. How can I word that I want to move due to relying on friends and family after the separation etc?. My husband was the only driver and I can not drive so I will be needing to get to the new gp and as my family and friends go there it's easier for them to take me to the new doctors. Thanks for any help.

tell them it's nothing personal and that it is more convenient to use the new gp surgery as you dont drive and rely on others for transport.

You don't need to tell them anything.

Agreed - how have the old practice contacted you to ask you? If this is a practice being unusually proactive about customer retention, they may be genuinely interested to know why, but as general practice is meant to be massively oversubscribed and on the point of collapse (as my Twitter feed suggests daily) they ought to be glad to be shot of one patient.

If you do think they're trying to find out why patients are leaving them, I'd just say your circumstances have changed and it's more convenient for you to get to the other practice.
