Oh god, am I actually going to shit myself to death??

Clearly this is going to be a TMI post.

I finished a course of antibiotics on Saturday (flux-something? Can't remember what they were called). I felt sick as a dog the whole time I was taking them & my tummy was a bit dodgy, but manageable. Was really looking forward to finishing the course & feeling better.. Ha!

Since yesterday morning I have had the galloping shits been in & out of the loo CONSTANTLY. I only ate one slice of toast all day yesterday & I've already had to dash to the bog four times this morning! And my poor bum feels like it's been blowtorched... Will it ever stop??

Went to see my dr because after googling, I'd convinced myself that I had c-diff - she said it was unlikely because I hadn't been in hospital & haven't got a temperature. Just got the usual advice about dioralite etc & told it should go in a few days. I'm not convinced though - why would I suddenly get so ill on Tuesday when I stopped the antibiotics on Saturday? I've got loads going on, not least a new job & I really need to be better. Help!

All I can say is try Sudocrem for the bum (or anything similar) and if you haven't already invest in some adult bum wipes and nice loo roll. I'm prone to a dodgy tummy due to IBS/IBD and these are invaluble at the time. Have you tried immodium btw? It stopped my DM's awful shits in a few hours a couple of months back. Hope you feel better soon Brew Thanks

Thanks Joni. Haven't tried Imodium as I took it once a long time ago & it gave me such horrific stomach ache that I threw up Hmm

I have sudocrem, oh the indignity!

I'm taking probiotic tablets, no idea if they are staying in long enough to do anything!

Has added a whole new meaning to the phrase 'school run'...

A while back I had this and ended up in a&e on a drip due to dehydration. The doc there said drink 2 pots of yakult and then 2 more 12 hours later. He said this should work if it is a bacterial infection. I tried it and it worked a treat. Maybe worth a try.

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 17/09/2014 14:29

Thanks Jumping but I'm vegan so don't do dairy. Presumably probiotic tablets would do the same thing though? Feeling very wobbly, necking down the dioralite but not eaten anything yet today - got to do the school run soon & I'm scared!

With regard to the Immodium.......it used to make me sick as well and then I tried the Immodium Instants that dissolve on your tongue and they are absolutely fine, so it could be worth giving them a go if you're desperate!

I had this many years ago on holiday, thought it would clear up once I finished the anti-b's , did it heck , everything I ate and drank gave awful stomach cramps and went straight though. Lost half a stone tho Grin
Definitely get some Imodium, sudocrem and moist loo roll and some pro-biotic yogurt to help put the good bugs back

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 18/09/2014 08:05

Veganism be damned, I'm buying some Yakult - this is a medical emergency! I haven't had any dairy for about 3 years so I'm hoping it won't cause more problems than it solves ;-/

Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to try the Imodium fast-melts too. I need to get back to work!

I managed to eat some rice & a banana yesterday, I don't know how much weight I've lost in the last few days but I am visibly skinnier.
