Advice on wound dressing in elderly - any nurses around ?

My mum is 94 ,has skin like tissue paper and takes high dose of aspirin every day .

DNT come 2/7 to dress legs but sometimes ,like today she knocks herself and removes a large ( 3cm by 2cm ish ) area of skin . Has wound ,not deep but bleeding .

I'm reluctant to call nurses out ,would if I couldn't stop bleeding . I'm fairly sensible and confident to dress ,have supplies in house . My question is - what does one do with the flap of skin that is sheared off ?

Any advice ?

You can ease it back into position after cleaning with saline or wound wash. Apply inadine and cover with a simple dressing. Once they start to heal and aren't infected, I generally apply a foam square. Hydrocolloids are also good.

Vitamin C and Zinc also help with wound healing.

Keep the leg elevated too and make sure she has a decent protein intake for wound healing too.
