Ds1 has been complaining ove rthe past few days of having 'a sore bottom' (not itchy). Since he went to bed over a hour ago he's been screaming with pain, saying it's his bottom... I've looked but can't see anything - no redness or bleeding. I've given him calpol & neurofen to no avail. Can't get thru to NHS Direct... should I take him to casualty/ What can it be????

Have just called Out-of-hours who said 'a doctor will call you back within the hour' WTF??

Anyway, after being adamant he didn't need one, DS1 5 mins ago declared he needed a poo & has just done one, & there was a bit of wind so hopefully that is it. Crossed fingers he goes to sleep now & I can take him to the GP tomorrow.

Thanks everyone.

ps out=of-hours just called back. Why do they always sound like they haven't slept for 3 days?

SSSandy · 24/09/2006 21:23

gp told me once to check for worms by putting a bit of cellotape across the anus at night. Since they creep out at night to lay their eggs, you'll see if some got stuck.

Never actually did it but perhaps you could try it. Don't know much about worms really. Didn't know they caused pain

Mateychops · 24/09/2006 22:22

Could be, my ds would also cry with pain, but we couldn't see anything. He'd call it his 'jaggy bottom'. Check with GP tomorrow, and good luck for tonight.

scampadoodle · 24/09/2006 22:44

You know, I wondered about worms, 'cause I've been getting a bit of an itchy bum lately (sorry - TMI!)I even bought some tablets which I haven't yet used. I thought they just itched though, & didn't cause such pain. DS1 is a bit of a drama queen though...

Have you been to the doctors scampadoodle, what did he/she say?

SSSandy · 25/09/2006 20:14

everything ok now?

scampadoodle · 25/09/2006 22:29

I'm taking him to the doc's tomorrow after school. Tonight he said his bottom was sore again (after being fine all day - must be worms) but he's gone to sleep no bother.
