Hi Punk, I was diagnosed with this early this year and am now suffering with my first next infection so I'm not sure I'll be of much help.

I have it in my left upper lobe - I do percussion for three minutes twice a day and it does help bring up some mucus. I basically do this over the bathroom sink. I also have it in my sinus but haven't been told how I can help clear that, my current sinus infection went to my lungs in two days so I guess I should find out about that!

How long have you had your diagnosis for? Did you have to be hospitalised to clear your original infection? Sorry I can't offer more advice.

My mum was finally diagnosed with this after four years of investigations and a spell in high dep with pneumonia.

She does her chest clearing in/out of bed (in the morning I think). This and her daily antibiotics (Azithromicin) have kept her chest clear for the last year.

DH plays tennis 2/3 times a week, plays African drums 1/2 a week, sing sin a choir 1/2 a week & cycles (static bike) every day - which combined with Doxycycline, mycodyne, singulair, Q-var means he hasn't had a chest infection since Dec 10

He had a thingie but it hurt his chest - he clears after (or mid) exercise in the bathroom

Thanks for your replies folks. It's shit who's been diagnosed with it. They think it might have been caused by some radiotherapy he had years ago. He's doing fine though with the chest physio though x

My DH has it, he takes medication to control his acid reflux and nasal drip. He also uses an acapella twice a day to 'wobble' the mucus loose so he can bring it up.

Recently discovered that after 15 years of treatment via steroid inhalers (which is counter productive to preventing infections)... he doesn't have bloody asthma. Hmm So his health is becoming a little better now we know that.
