Need to loo a lot.

For a while now (few years) I go to the loo to poo quite a lot and it feels urgent, maybe 5 times a day. I get cramps and wind too. Sometimes constipation but mainly it's a bit loose.
I don't have a particularly healthy diet and I have anxiety problems which make me go to the loo more anyway as my stomach goes when I panic.
I'm 25 and no other problems. I occasionally have fissures which lightly bleed but it's definitely coming from little cuts around my bum and not inside.
Does this sound like IBS? Or something worse? I will go to the docs but haven't yet. Is there things I can do to try and help it now? I'm worrying.
I'm feeling on edge about this as sadly my aunt very recently passed away from bowel cancer and it has scared me a lot.

itsbetter you really do need to go to your GP and ask them to refer you for a coloscopy (I had one in July , it's not as bad as you think)

There's loads of conditions affecting the bowel (I have ulcerative colitis and even though I haven't had treatment for it - long, drawn out saga - it has put my mind at rest knowing.) Stress is a huge factor in alot of bowel problems.

And, if the worst happens - IF - you'd be better placed to deal with all the options.

Make that appointment Wink

Thank you. I suppose I was a bit worried I'd be wasting the doctors time as I thought I might just be panicking due to what has happened with my aunt. But what you have said has reassured me about that.

I'll look up that condition. Hope it's not too bad for you!

Seeing your gp would probably help your anxiety levels. It many just be as simple as cutting something out your diet (such as wheat).

Your gp is the best place to start. Don't worry about seeing them, this is something they are used to talking about all the time. They may be able to help with anxiety too. Make sure you tell them about this too.

Good luck!

It sounds like IBS yes and theoretically you are too young for anything serious.

Have a google for the FODMAP diet and maybe try reducing some foods that are known triggers for IBS.

Something like hypnotherapy, CBT and Mindfulness training might help your anxiety- some available on the NHS.

If it is IBS your dr could refer you to an NHS dietician for help.
