Hoping someone has a suggestion that might help :(
I have long, very thick dark hair and have never had a problem with dandruff before, used the same shampoo for years etc but all changed after my daughter was born.
My scalp all of a sudden became very greasy for a few months and then went back to normal only I had developed awful dandruff...this was 4 years ago.
Since then, I have never been able to get it to improve and it's really getting me down now.
I have tried absolutely everything, every shampoo I can think of and they have made very little difference.
My scalp feels really itchy and dry and its kind of lumpy which I think is little patches of dandruff.
It is very bad along the sides and my hair line.

I cant blow dry and straighten like I usually do as then the dandruff is literally falling like snow and the roots are so greasy the next day, my hair looks like it hasn't been washed in ages.
If I just let it dry and tie back you can see it all along my hairline, I've noticed people staring when they are talking to me, I feel awful :(

The only things that seem to have made a slight improvement for a while are shampoos like t-gel but I literally can't get a brush through my hair after using them, it looks awful an do nothing with it. Doesn't help that I cannot stop scratching!!
Help!!!!

I've tried dozens - the only one that works is this :

Have you tried your GP? I had a similar problem and tried everything, eventually went to the doctor and got some steroid gel to put on my scalp. I don't need to use it all the time, just when it flares up - usually once the weather turns cold.

It's prob eczema on the scalp. Go to your GP and ask for Betnovate Scalp Lotion, only on prescription I'm afraid...but it does the trick.

Thanks for your suggestions, I will book appointment with the GP. I did think of eczema or something related, my mum has awful psoriasis but my skin is fine everywhere else, never been sensitive or anything like that.

Bob I haven't tried that one. Funnily enough, I have used the red elvive for years and years and it makes my hair gorgeous but have never used the mens one, it's worth a shot!

Probably psoriasis if your mum had it. See the GP they can prescribe treatment for it. If no luck there worth seeing a dermatologist.

I was coming on to say that elvive shampoo. It's the men's one, black and orange. Hope it works op.

I have sensitive scalp and greasy hair and occasional use of body shop ginger shampoo helps.

Betnovate scalp ointment from the drs is the only thing that has cleared my eczema on my head. It's worth it's weight in gold!
