Burn - icky pic attached

Well I think I've attached it anyway.
Burnt my leg on an exhaust pipe a week ago, have kept it covered on the advice of a nurse but the dressings rub on the raw bit & it is driving me mad! She also said it would be well on it's way to being healed by now, and as you can see...
Should I just let the air get to it? Put savlon on? Need to cover it for work tomorrow either way. Help!

You should not leave it uncovered at the moment as it is raw and open and could get easily infected.

I would go to a chemist and ask for advice about dressing it. It looks nasty.

chockbic · 05/09/2014 22:49

Can you put some savlon and a light dressing on?

Ouch poor you.

EduCated · 05/09/2014 22:50

Ouch, sorry no advice, but looks painful. Poor you, hope your alright.

I may have read the thread title as icky bum in active Blush

chockbic · 05/09/2014 22:52

So did I thought it worth a look!

Squeakyheart · 05/09/2014 22:53

I saw some special burn dressings in boots the other day, maybe worth a try?

MrsBungle · 05/09/2014 22:56

That looks like it needs covered. I had a bad burn years ago and I had flamozene cream (I think!) and the dressings were changed regularly. Mine took weeks and weeks to heal.

I use the gel from aloe vera plant for burns - worth keeping plant in kitchen-but yours does look serious so I'd ask at pharmacy or surgery.

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 06/09/2014 07:41

Thank you all so much for the sympathy & advice - guess I'm keeping it covered! Thought I was being a wimp... maybe not :-/ Might take myself to the minor injuries unit on Monday. I'm walking a marathon in a few weeks & I could only manage 5 miles yesterday because it was sore.

I always read burn as bum too (not sure what that says about me!). There was always much hilarity when Burn Notice was on telly - 'Bum Notice: They don't get fired, they get bum[m]ed'! Yes, I probably should grow up Grin

I would actually pay A & E a visit in such circumstances and get them to look at this.

Chuckthefucklebrothers · 06/09/2014 13:13

Really? Yikes! Was gonna leave it til Monday but maybe I'll take a trip to minor injuries when I finish work.

Got it looked at, it's infected. Bum. Hmm

I'm glad you got it looked at - was just RTFT before posting that the bottom burn looks really rather nastily infected. Have they advised you on dressing it?

You need to get it assessed by someone....
