HPV Jab

Back when the jab first came out, I wasn't sure I wanted DD to have it, it was very new and I was worried it was unproven. Fast forward a few years (where did the time go?) and she's year 8 so a decision has to be made.

So, did your DD have the jab or not? If so, was she fine afterwards? If not, why not?

dd didn't have it last year , several of them didn't.

Yes and yes. I don't know of any of DD's peers who didn't.

The jab is still unproven. IIRC, the first batch of teenagers are just coming up to 25 and so their "invitations" for a smear test will be in the post soon.

My DN didn't have the jab when offered.

I am tempted to hold off for a few years. I'm not saying never, but she's still very young so that should be ok I think. I'm interested to hear what others have done/are doing but feel a bit unsure about the whole thing.

If you're going to give it, it needs to be done before she is sexually active. So don't leave it too long.
Interestingly in Scotland the smear ages have changed from 20-60 to 25-65 and only 5 yearly after the age of 50, this is from 2016.
