Tennis Elbow question

I'm 58 and developed this after I resumed riding earlier this year and went on a long trail riding holiday. I Think too much tugging on the reins to stop my mount eating all the time did the damage, not helped by also sorting out my garden full of weeds. After about 12 weeks of pain and discomfort it is almost entirely better. Whist I am hoping to improve my riding and use my legs to move the horse on in these situations I am not a bit concerned about doing anther long distance ride and having it flare up again. Should I try using an elbow support when I haven't got the problem ? DH has suggested weight training to increase muscle strength in my forearms would that work?

I developed TE last year, not really sure why. In the end, I didn't do anything different to what I was normally able to do and it went of its own accord about 5 months later.

A elbow support would help, but rather than weight training, you can do specific exercises to help. But mostly tennis elbow is a bit of a beggar and random things set it off. One of my triggers is pulling my wheely briefcase if I let my arm go behind me.

Acupuncture has really helped calm my TE down when it flares up

I think I'll get an elbow support for riding, if a horse puts it's head down to eat unexpectedly or when they go into canter it is a very strong tug on your arm, and I think this is what started it off. Thanks for advice TNTL and CMOTB.
