Any Dentists out there - Braun, Sonicare or manual toothbrushes?

We have philips sonicare toothbrushes for DH and I - replacement heads are £15 each!

Are the sonic toothbrushes really better than other electric toothbrushes? I must admit - I do feel that electric toothbrushes clean my teeth better than maunual ones - still use manual on DD though - she doesn't like buzzing and vibrations of electric.

sorry, can't be much help! I know there are a couple of dentists on MN, but I asked this question (or one very similar) a while back and got no answer! Suspect they're rather busy having real lives

Hi i am dental hygienist. I personally prefer the oral b plaque remover rather than the sonicare. Alot of patients and dentists like the sonicare. From what you've said it sounds like you like the sonic toothbrush. There is a learning curve with the sonicare and very strong vibration to hold which puts people off. Heads are expensive . i prefer smaller head of plaque remover easier access to awkward area's that's my personal opinion. My 3 and 5 year old kids use a combination of both. Don't think they would like the sonic one.

so I don't feel that sonic brushes are better than electric ones but i do feel that electric toothbrushes are better than manuel ones. hope this is of help to you

Thanks LB - will have a think about what you've said and decide whether to invest in more sonicare heads or go back to the plaque remover.
