Anyone know ANYTHING about vision difficulties/needing glasses?

last night DD1 (10) said that when she is reading things close to her she has to close one eye to stop the words hovering. Neither dh or I have any experience of eye probs - so don't know if others experience this or what it means. We have also noticed she has had a few headaches since school went back. She sys reading from the board at school is fine. Anyone had this?

presumably I take her to an optician.

sounds like she's long-sighted but one eye is worse than the other - I'm shortsighted and remember closing one eye to read the board better!

Defitiely take her to the optician.

Agree sounds like she's long-sighted. Definitely one for the optician!

get an appointment for optician.

glasses are cool (well thats what i tell dd3 who wears them)

Make her an appointment to get her eyes checked. She may just need glasses for reading and computer work etc.

I wear glasses but my vision was fine until I started secondary school. It's all to do with the shape of the eyeball changing as you grow so that the light comes through the lens at the wrong angle for focussing. Or something.

Your dd may only have a problem with one eye. It took my mum ages to realise she was struggling as she is short-sighted in one eye and long-sighted in the other so they were compensating for each other! She only needs glasses for reading though.
