blood after car accident

On Friday we were hit from behind by a large van while at traffic light.
We had quite a bump but nothing major. My back windscreen was smashed in and a large dent in the back. We were all in shock (3 kids in back) so not really sure how big the bump was but I initially thought the car had exploded!
Nobody hurt but today my dh said he had blood from back passage. (not huge amount I don't think)
Is there any way this could be related to a rear collision? If so should he be checked out right away or see go next week?

I would go ASAP. Especially if he has had nothing like it before.

I think he needs to be seen asap.

He said he hasn't had it before. Getting him to a Dr is going to be a nightmare though!!

He absolutely must see a doctor.

I would doubt its related.

Hopefully it's just piles and a coincidence, you can have internal piles and not have any other symptoms

Is he in any pain?
Was the blood after or with a bowel movement?
Is he other wise well?

From what you are saying, it seems unlikely to be related to your accident tbh. Having said that any rectal bleeding that goes on for more than 6 weeks ought to be checked out.
Whether he needs to see somebody today depends more on how he is in himself.

My mum had rectal bleeding. Gp did house visit and called the hospital and insisted she was seen that day. Wanted to rule out internal bleeding.

Actually I would call 111 and let them decide ghe best course of action.

I don't think he has pain. I did ask if he had piles, he doesn't think he has ever had them (unlike me!)
I think he noticed the blood when he wiped.
Mixed opinions, maybe I'll called NHS direct.
