Help, I hate my mooncup!

I've been using a mooncup since April 2013 after coming to loathe tampons with a passion. I have never really got to grips with the mooncup. I think I have a very low cervix, and it's really difficult for me to get it in place without being able to feel the bottom of it (especially on the second day of my period, when for some reason my cervix is even lower than normal). I've emailed mooncup about this (they were really helpful), trimmed the base as much as it can be trimmed, tried different ways of folding it, twist it round once it's in to make sure it's suctioned in, etc etc. Yet still it leaks most of the time, it is very often uncomfortable because I can feel it, and at least once per cycle it either pops right out or manages to turn itself on its side, often with messy results. I never even try to wear it at night any more because it leaks hopelessly. The only reason I haven't yet gone back to tampons is that I hate them even more than the mooncup!

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Or, has anyone else experienced these problems but had success with a different menstrual cup? I really don't want to go back to vile tampons full-time ...

Well, if it's not right for your anatomy, it'll never be right.

There are other brands of menstrual cup you could try. Off the top of my head I know that Divacup often gets good reviews, but I'm sure there are others.

Or maybe a cup will never be right for you? I understand your hatred of tampons; I haven't used them for ten years and will never go back. After I gave birth I never resumed the Mooncup because I was too scared (I had gynae issues) and used cloth pads instead. They aren't as comfortable and fuss-free as a cup, though.

Have a look at Meluna - they do lots of different options in terms of size, softness/firmness of the cup and the bit on the end that you grab to remove it. Mooncup was never quite right for me but I get on a lot better with my Meluna cup.
