Is this normal.

Stopped 10 days ago.

Been taking sudafed and ibuprofen.

One boob fine, no lumps, not sore at all, nipple looks small again and normal.

Other boob has large hard lump on one size, about size of squash ball. Really sore, nipple pointing to one side.

Have panicked myself thinking engorged feeding boobs have hidden huge tumour!!

Please tell me this normal and us all part of stopping breasyfeeding!! Sad

I'd go to the GP if I were you, it sounds like mastitis. Can you try hand expressing that boob?

Something must be blocked. Try a hot flannel then run a,fine tooth comb from the lump towards the nipple in firm strokes to see if milk comes out. If not or if you start feeling unwell go to a walk in centre as you may have mastitis.

Does sound like mastitis. I'd go to the GP's,as you may need antibiotics.

Sounds very like mastitis. GP.

Heat (hot flannel) and then massage, repeat again and again. Definitely see the doctor if it hasn't improved in 24 hours or you develop a temperature. Expressing should help too. It is fairly common, did you stop suddenly or gradually?

Ooooohhhh this is why I love you ladies.

Gone from hard, sore lump and me worrying about how DH will cope without me to very soft boob after I have hand expressed a fair bit of milk.

Still sore but think that's where I've been expressing rather hard.

Will continue with sudafed and pop to doctors on monday maybe.

Thank you.

Try to use your hand in a rolling motion from the lump towards the nipple rather than too much expressing. You do want to clear the blockage but want to avoid stimulating more milk production. Agree work flannels to start the flow then cold to stop and calm it down. Paracetamol, sports bras and see GP of no better on Monday or sooner if you become unwell.

Should settle fairly quickly.
