Can anyone diagnose this patch of bumps on my back?

A random patch of bumps has appeared on my back out of nowhere. I felt an itch on my back so itched it but that hurt so I asked DH to look he said I had about 3 small spots on my back. The area felt hot all day so later on I asked him to look again and he said it had turned into a whole patch. They are not spreading or disappearing and have been there a week now. The area feels hot and is hot to the touch and is painful when I lean on it or my clothing rubs on it.

It is a bit more bright red than it looks in the photos. Anyone got any ideas as the Dr's got no appointment until the end of the week. I am more then happy to just ignore it if its one of those things but really don't know if this is a symptom of something else iyswim.

Thanks everyone just googled Shingles and it does sound like that could be it although I haven't felt unwell at all. I don't think it will be ringworm the google images for that were more like a ring of spots with normalish skin in the middle. I did accidentally do a google image search on roundworm first though and now I need to wash my eyes eugh!

Is it only on one side of your back? i.e not crossing over the middle of your back. I think that's a sign of shingles. If it is shingles, you're very contagious and can give chicken pox to people so should be careful near pregnant women, children, elderly, vulnerable etc.

mummylion my DS had shingles a couple og years ago, he had anti-viral tablets but IIRC you need to take them within 72 hours (so might be an idea to phone your GP tomorrow or Out of Hours , depending on how long you've had them)

Yes its just on one side, how long will I be contagious?
