Have tried everything, gels and freezing thingys and stuff, and 4 weeks ago, went to a dermatologist to get it frozen off. What aload of bllcks that was!!!! He said it would fall off in 3 weeks, but in those 3 weeks another one has appeared next to it!!

What the hell do we do now? It is right smack bang at the underneath of his heel, and he cannot put any pressure on it when he walks, so I am worrying it will do a lot more damage...

Take him back to dermatologist or alternatively take him to a chiropodist who will treat it till it goes.

Take him back for more treatment, unfortunately because of the way they spread sometimes this happens. In the meantime buy some cheap foam inserts (double layer them if shoes allow and make sure the same thickness goes in both shoes) and cut out a hole where the veruca is - this should relieve pressure on the area and making walking a bit easier.

I took dd to a chiropodist ,it cost about£25 and all he did was to tell us that they dont treat them these days! We were told to wait for it to fall off naturally which can take up to 10 years.

I tried everything you can get in Boots as well as natural remedies (banana skins !) . In the end the thing that worked was scholls verucca plasters which are dots that you stick on and then a thick cushiony plaster that goes over it, so it takes some of the pressure away. You do have to put them on religiously every night but they did work for us in about 8 weeks.

You are right lorina - chiropodist won't treat them unless they are painful which was the problem in my DS2's case. He treated them weekly till they went. DD has verrucas but he said to leave them because they will eventually go of their own accord. Treating those ones can make them painful.

malodorantemelly · 17/09/2006 13:33

There is no way we can leave them to go themselves
as they are too bad. I think it is ridiculous, he has been wearing socks for months now, and what about when he goes swimming, the plasters do not stay on and cant find a verruca sock to fit!

His last school in england came up with a stupid idea that they were not catching and socks were not necessary when swimming, but dd has had one and now dh has one... not infectious.. my arse! Sorry very annoyed treatments haven't worked for my poor ds1.

Liquidclocks - the inserts sound like a good idea, thanks for that.

verrucas are the spawn of the devil. I always swore by the banana skin method, but my ds has such a stubborn huge one that it has even defeated the banana. He swims twice a week and always has to wear a sock, imagine him still wearing it in 6,7,8,9,10 years time!

GP said same to me, they don't bother treating them. Even said it might never go away!

liquidclocks · 17/09/2006 13:37

No problem - not used them for verrucas but it's very effective for my patients with plantar faciitis so I hope it will help, just be a bit careful it doesn't make his shoes too tight, trainers are probably best (bet his school will love that!) because they're nice and soft.

sallyrosie · 17/09/2006 14:04

ohhh sympathies! I had horrible verrucas all over my feet when I was younger. Tried everything to get right of the little buggers and nothing worked.
Eventually they just went on their own and have never come back. I think all the stuff you put on etc just makes you feel like you're doing something while you wait for the body to get rid of them on its own tbh!
The cushions sound a good idea.

trainers are fine here, no uniforms in france!! yippee!

Still, I will go back to the dermatologist till it is cleared up
