A wobbly tooth at 4?!

This seems pretty early to me, but my dd has a wobbly tooth already (actually she'll be 5 in a week) but even so..

Does this seem very early? She hasn't banged her tooth to make it loose.

She's only been at big school a week..and now a wobbly tooth already. Too soon! She's just a baby!

Dd lost the 2 front bottom ones at around 4.6 yo and I was as concerned as you. I remembering being reassured by the amount of posters on here who had similar experiences.

DS lost his two at exactly that age tinygang. The dentist said it was early but OK - actually at the time we were worried because the adult teeth were already through behind the baby teeth. So DS basically never had a gap.

Thanks Pintomum That does help.

Dd1 lost her first one during her Reception year and I tought that was on the early side. But dd2 has only been at school 5 minutes although she is one of the oldest there, I suppose.

Can't children just stay the same for a bit, to give me a chance to catch them up?!

Your ds too Bozza? Oh well, I guess the old tooth fairy better get her wings on again round here and fish about down the back of the sofa for some money.

My DS1 was 5 yrs and 1 month when he lost his first two teeth. A few in his reception class followed.

As with all things children are developing earlier and earlier.

He is will be six in November and has lost another two !

DS was early to get his baby teeth also - full set by about 20 months so I wonder if this is related.

TinyGang · 16/09/2006 21:04

Do you know I'm embarrassed to say I can't remember how old my children all were their teeth came through.

I always seems to be rushing mentally to catch my children up though, so I'm sure they weren't too late. Maybe it is related Bozza - that would be logical.

Mummydear you are quite right in that children develop earlier these days - teeth I can handle, but I'm praying my girls won't be too early with the other stuff for their sake.

LOl tinygang. I just remember being surprised at how late some children's teeth do come through because DS seemed the norm to me.

divastrop · 17/09/2006 20:56

my ds and dd1 both lost their first baby teeth not long after starting in reception, and there were a few others in the class with gaps!i remember being about 7 when i started losing my baby teeth.dd1 is 7 now and already has 12 adult teeth.
dd2,who is 9 months, has just been screaming(agin)cos she is getting teeth...it doesnt seem worth all the pain if theyre going to fall out in 3 years!

I was just about to post a plea for advice about kids losing teeth at 5 and then I found this and feel reassured that dd doesn't have a weird disease!! she has also only been at school a week. Thanks guys

My DD lost her first tooth at 5. I was as concerned as everyone else seems to be. The dentist said it was partly genetic and that girls are more likely to loose a tooth before boys. DS lost his first at 6.
