DS (14mths) has been out of sorts & off his food for the last couple of days. DP took him to the Gp today who said DS has 'Nisty'. Has anyone ever heard of this? I can't find a reference to it anywhere in any of my medical bks! (Of course, DP could have it completely wrong!)

no idea, could it be a mis-pronunciation?

Reminds me of when my aunt had a cough and told us all in a very unworried way that it was meningitis, when she really meant laryngitis.

I though perhaps it was 'nasty' at 1st! Maybe an acronym...

Might be "Non Specific" something or other - NSD. DP may have misheard. Can't think of anything at the moment, but will keep trying.

BettySpaghetti · 15/09/2006 22:24

Non-Specific Virus maybe as that would be NSV??

edam · 15/09/2006 22:27

What did dp say the GP told you to do? Might provide a clue... or you could try calling NHS Direct and seeing if they have anyone who can explain.

harpsichordcarrier · 15/09/2006 22:27

yep, I bet it was non specific virus NSV

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/09/2006 22:28

Never heard of nisty before, I'm curious now.

swollen glands, off his food, won't drink, sore ear, red throat, sore eye....very fragile, bit of a temperature - those are his symptoms. Dr said give Calpol etc & it should go in 48hrs.

NSV sounds quite plausable. DP was so sure - 'he's got nisty'he says!!! What is he like!

The other thing is he had his MMR plus pneucocciol jab 9 days ago so it could be a reaction to that although the DR didn't seem keen to equate the two.
