Does anyone know if any chemists do cholesterol testing in store? I heard a rumour that Superdrug was doing them - does anyone know? And how much does it cost?

They do the fingertip prick test which only indicates that you have elevated cholesterol levels. Ideally you should take a fasting bloodtest.

Ok! Thanks!

I am just being lazy and didnt fancy going to the hospital to have it done!

Its a good guide if you suspect, but I would get a proper fasting test, it will show your HDL to LDL ration too, which is the good cholesterol.

Well I had a test done about 8 months ago and it was very high, so I guess I should do the sensible thing and find out properly - I am hoping it has gone down as I have lost some weight, excercise more and eat those lowering cholesterol drinks!

Cheers!

boots def do them(I personally do them!!!) some stores need you to give them a call for a appointment but sometimes you can get lucky and they(we ) can do them staight away.

it's free BTW. it's a good indication of your cholestrol but if you want/need to delve deeper a fasting one at docs will give more detail. The test in store gives a pretty good idea of whether you need to stress/celebrate/eat more oily fish!

Thanks for that spinamum! I may have a look tomorrow when I go shopping!
