Ibuprofen is fine- I had to take loads when I was feeding dd and she is now a strapping 8 year old

tamum · 14/09/2006 20:25

(I wasn't meaning that as the only evidence base, by the way!) There's a good summary here .

HAd co-codamol after c-section and during pregnancy.

3littlefrogs · 14/09/2006 21:32

Sorry to be nosy, but why are you in such pain you need co-codamol? (I only ask in case you have something wrong that might need investigation or treatment)

NotQuiteCockney · 14/09/2006 21:34

cocodamol is absolutely fine. iprofen fine, too (particularly if baby not entirely new). If the problem is a muscular/inflammation issue, iboprofen is good, but diclofenac is better (doesn't come through in milk at all, and is a stronger antinflammatory) - prescription only, though.

NotQuiteCockney · 14/09/2006 21:35

Oooh, tamum's link says diclofenac does come through, but not much. Whoops.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/09/2006 21:41

I am taking co dydramol (have taken paracetamol and ibuprofen which is confirmed as fine).

The GP said that there had been no (substantial) studies on it, but there is no evidence that it should/would come into the breastmilk in (significant) quantities

I have also been prescribed diclofenac whilst b/feeding.
