Had dd2 4 weeks ago , 2nd degree tear and stitched front to back. Had an infection there 2 wks ago and thrush , had anti biotics and canestan , thought it was re occuring last 48hrs so went back to gp today. Have felt stitches that are still there , doctor decided to remove them today YUCK.He said id been stitched bit to tight and thats whats causing swelling , redness and severe burning and itching and thankfully no infection and thrush.

Im so sore now , hes prescribed parrafin cream , but I wondered what else to use to soothe things. I was using lavender oil , but told may be not to use it with thrush. Im worried now its not gonna heal to well and be very tight down there. Anyone else had this ?

Oo I feel for you.

I had same problem and was stitched too tight. I used lactacyd which is lactid acid and found it soothing, also helped with thrish as it is at the right pH.

It is def worth a go.

I also used one drop of lav oil in lots of water and when I went to loo sluiced self with it (lots of detail I know) but that did help. Not sure if there is a proper herbalist on line whop could say whether any oils are any good. As I don't actually know if that is right or not

I've just suggested this on another thread for nappy rash, but it is good for speeding healing. Vitamin e capsules from health food shop, break open and apply the oil to skin. When washing use a hairdryer, not tissues or towels. After going to loo, sluice with warm water, you could add a pinch of salt, then dry with hairdryer.

Was stitched after both births.
Very Very sore both times. I healed realy quickly though.

The advice I received was a gem:-

At least 3 baths a day (if pos) with about 20 drops of tea tree oil in it. Juat sit and soak as long as you can.

It not only smells lovely but works wonders.

When adding lavender to the bath I was told to get a small cup, put a little full fat milk in it and then drop the lavender oil into it. When swirled round and then put under the running tap of the bath it helps to stop the oil floating. Seemed to help.
