DD has a wobbly front tooth - HELP!

My DD has just turned 4 last month and has just come up to me saying that her front tooth is sore. I laughed and jokingly said 'ok let mummy have a look' and lo and behold when I tried to move it there is a definate 'give' in it and also the one next to it. All the others feel quite solid. This is way too young to start having wobbly teeth isn't it?? Wobbly is probably too strong a word tbh but can't think of another word to use!!!

She has had no probs with her teeth and when we went to see the dentist in May she gave her a clean bill of health saying she had lovely teeth and didn't need to see her for another year.

Is this normal or should I take her back? Sorry if I'm being a bit dim!!!

ds lost his teeth when he was at nursery so he would have been 3 or 4. his adult teeth have come through with no problems

gigglinggoblin · 14/09/2006 18:33

not all his teeth of course, just the first few!

It is a little early, but still in the realms of what is "normal" so don't worry.

wobbly teeth average at 6 but kids can be 4, 5 or at other extreme even 8. shouldn't worry if she hasn't banged them but don't let her wobble them too much. they may not get much looser for a while.

Could she have knocked it as it does seem early? The roots are really shallow so it is possible to dislodge one easily. Worth getting a check up just in case (might have affected others or create a problem longer term) and maybe it could yet bed back in ?

DS1 lost his first tooth the day after his 4th birthday, the second about 2 months later. He's just turned 6 and has his 3rd wobbly tooth. And it's all he talks about.

DD had a wobbly tooth for over a year. She eventually lost her first tooth at 7 years old, followed by her 2nd a week later.
So just because its a bit loose now, it might not come out for ages yet.

LIZS is quite correct. My DD1 (nearly 5) had two fairly wobbly front upper teeth at beginning of summer holiday. Was a bit surprised but plenty of friends said it wasn't that unusual. I checked them every few days and after a couple of weeks they became less wobbly - and now they don't move at all.

And then we remembered her falling off her chair and banging her chin on the table at her pre-school leavers party... Guess they sorted themselves out.
