I think they normally use atropine drops misdee.

Am I right in thinking DD3 has incredibly dark eyes? I have heard of needing a much higher dosage with dark eyes because they don't dilate as easily.

i will ask today, we are off to see the paediatric optician this afternoon as both mine are having their eyes checked (both have squints and already wear glasses, this is their regular 3 month check but its at a new place as we've moved to a different part of the country). ds is 15mths and has very dark brown eyes. he's only had the drops once so far and they did work for him that time. does your dd cry when she has them done?, they can sting when they go in and crying dilutes the strength.

The same has happened to me - it took several attempts and in the end they used some stronger drops which did work although I had to sit with my eyes closed for half an hour! I don't remember what they were though. I was told it was because I have very dark eyes.

dd3 eyes are practically black. her next appointment is in december, and i would really like to get her perscription sorted properly at this appointment, as they just couldnt do it yesterday.

she did scream when they put the drops in, but not tears.

my daughter is mixed race her eyes are not that dark , they told me at Moorfields that people from certain ethnic backgrounds their pupils do not dilate with those drops and that they would give me another type for her next eye appointment that I could put in the the night before or morning ,

i guess dd3 surprises them as she is soo fair skinned. not of mixed race origins, tho my mums ancestors are romanies.
