Cervical stenosis

I may (very likely) be being diagnossied with this, after my hospital appointment today. The doctor had never seen a cervical opening so small!

Just wondered if anyone else has had it and how they were treated, and it is worked. I suspect I may need a small op, under GA, to stretch the cervix. Hoping that will solve everything.

Looks like this is the reason for all my fertility problems too! All the hormone and ov checks appear fine, so the doctors believe the stenosis was most likely the cause. Obviosuly if nothing can get out (menstral bleeding) then not much was going to get in either. How I ever managed to have DD is a mystery - she appears to be a miracle child!

Also explains why I never properly dilated during labour, despite the full works induction. It was never going to work.

Nice to finally (almost) have a name and a solution though.

No one had this?

never heard of it but god it sounds like you were very lucky with your first.
I bet it's a weight off your mind to know that it's something that hopefully and fingers crossed for you, can be fixed. Hope someone on here can help you out and good luck xx

Yes, it is. I must be one of the only women in the UK actually complaining to a doctor that I don't have periods!

I think you probably are! I've been trying to stop one since last December!
Will it be something that once you've had the op will be totally sorted and you'll be able to conceive? Sorry to be nosey.

I think so. It shoud be a simple op and should mean that my periods return and are normal, and (as everything else appears normal) that I would have normal chances with fertility - not that we plan going down that route again now! Nice to know it is always a possibilityt hough.

Yes Fio, think so.

Just not sure what to expect what with the op (never had a GA before) and wondered if someone else did have it and if it is indeed a one off op that sorts it permanently.

To get rid of the pains each month will be great.

True, as you never know what is in the future. I guess. At least I now have a reason for all the troubles.

The main reason for getting it sorted is to sort out the period thing though. The pain is awful each month, even having to have time off work if it coincides with my work days. Now I have to come off the pill (until all sorted at least) I can't control when they will be anymore.

Off work today as in too much pain to go in. Not got abdominal cramps as such, more all over aches and pains across tunny and in back, and feel like I have been kicked in a rather intimate area I know I was told to expect it, but not making me feel any happier about the pain!
