I had my last child 6 years ago. I'd have 3 consecutive c/sections and every now and again, I get the feeling of movement-just like a baby!-in my tummy. It really feels quite large just like when a baby turns around sometimes! I had my tubes tied during last c/s so wondered if anyone had ever had similar "sensations" after giving birth. Also get very very heavy periods.

I have this, its the main artery in the body pumping blood. You become more aware if it after having a baby.

DelGirl · 13/09/2006 13:41

I had this after I had dd, also by c/s. Can't remember the last time it happened but it was months after she was born.

cutekids · 13/09/2006 13:42

it's an artery? it feels massive!

When I was pg with my first, I could feel a weight low down in my belly from about 8w. I assumed that it was my uterus growing, but within a week or two it started moving around when I moved (could particularly feel it moving when I turned over in the bath), and, by 10w could even feel it with my hands from the outside of my tummy. If you imagine a clock on my tummy, the lump would move all the way from 7 o'clock to midnight or 1 o'clock.

I had now idea what it was, it didn't hurt, and AFAIK it was normal in pg, but I asked the sonographer about it at my nuchal scan, he scanned it and it turned out to be a fibroid on the outside of my uterus. Which went on to give me a right old time for the next 3 years.

I've never felt it move at other times, only during early pregnancy. Nonetheless, perhaps you have something similar? Certainly my periods were terribly heavy between ds and dd, for which my gyne blamed the fibroid.

anniebear · 13/09/2006 13:47

lol, I have felt that also, my girls have just turned 5

At one point it felt so much like a baby I thoguht I must be pregnant! I wasnt!!!!!

anniebear · 13/09/2006 13:47

I never used to. Only after having cildren

cutekids · 13/09/2006 13:58

without being too descriptive...!the other day (first day of period) not only did I get this moving thing, i also bled very heavily and then..yuck!...some "skin" came out....could that be a fibroid?

I get this a lot and I had a section.

PrettyCandles · 13/09/2006 14:22

The 'skin' was probably a clot. I don't recall whether my periods were more 'clotty' than usual between ds and dd. It's easy enough to see a fibroid on a US scan, so, if you think that's what it is, or if the situation bothers you at all, why not ask your GP abou it?

SpanielEars · 13/09/2006 15:23

i get this too. haven't had a section though. it feels like a baby kicking although there is no baby. weird but in a way it feels quite nice.reminds me of when i was pregnant.

Quootiepie · 13/09/2006 15:28

I get this.... I thought it might be baby no. 2 poo

cutekids · 14/09/2006 12:22

yes, even though i knew i couldn't have any more, i remember when i first started getting these twinges that i was so hopeful i might be pregnant again!

I also get this twitch every now and then. My youngest ds is nearly 4 years old now, dont get periods as use coil contraception so no chance of being pg (Well very little chance). I think Id go with the thread from SparklyGothKat and say its an artery, mums prob become more aware of these feelings after having babies. As long as no harm will come to us then I think its a nice feeling, makes you think back to the first time you felt your babies. If you are worried about it then you should see your GP!!! Good luck!!
