NHS 111 told me to go to a walk in centre 15 minutes walk away, but I will probably have an 'accident' before I get there...

Think I have gastro. Been coming out both ends for the last two days, feel like death and have a fever of 40C. Rang the 111 number who said I need to see someone in the next 2 hours, and told me to go the nearest walk in centre. Unfortunately at the moment I can't get through 10 minutes without needing the loo, and I think the walk there would kill me anyway.

What am I supposed to do?!

Thanks everybody, I'm at the hospital now and they've done an ECG, attempting to do bloods and then I can get a line in for fluids and pain relief. They don't think it's viral so that's good, but I've been sanitising like mad anyway. Also made the mistake of mentioning I had a sore neck and now there's cries of 'meningitis! Meningitis!' Which I'm pretty certain it's not but I suppose they have to be on the safe side.

How are you today, pot?

Much better, thank you. Spent the night in hospital with IV fluids and a couple of types of antibiotics as well. The difference in how I feel from when I went in is unbelievable, no fever, no vomiting and I can even have little bits of water now. Still have a lot of abdominal pain, but doctors think that should go soon.

Thanks for your well-wishes everybody!

Oh no you poor thing, gastro (presuming it is that) is wicked. DS had this for a month and I was out of my mind with worry. After a stay in hospital and several GP's appointments, we eventually got some medication 3 weeks in, which worked immediately. It was another two weeks before he was fully recovered due to the severe weight loss and overall exhaustion. The remedy for him was an Immodium syrup (4 times a day) and Gaviscon. Glad to hear you are on a drip, this will work wonders, God knows why they did not put DS on one, spent ages putting the line in. Forget drinking water you need a cordial. Sending lots of get well vibes.
