Question about MMR side effects (not a contraversial thread btw)...

DS had his MMR vaccination 6 days ago. This morning when I went into him he is blotchy, red and puffy beneath both eyes. I have checked him over and there is nothing anywhere else, he is a little warm but not really a temperature and is quite happy in himself. Do you think it could be a reaction or something else?

DS2 had his MMR 6 days ago too. He's a bit under the weather with a cold and a bit warm, but apart from that he's fine too. The nurse told me that they can be unwell 7 days after with a temperature, maybe he's getting ready for that, I suspect ds2 is.

I've been watching dd2 like a hawk since she had hers last week but nothing to report. I'd ring your surgery if you're at all bothered.

Same as bundle. Ring them if you are concerned COV - although how hot is it where you are, we all had a restless night because of the humidity and both ds and dd looked fairly awful first thing .
The nurse at our practice warned us that the components kick in at different times post-immunisation, with the measles possibly at seven days, the mumps at 14, and the rubella at 21 days. Touch wood dd has had no side effects (ds was a single jabber so this is the first experience we have of the MMR).

From what I recall DD was the same as Marina's nurse said - reactions every 7 days for 3 weeks. Blotchy and just looking generally unwell sounds familiar.

Thanks all, how grotty did they get and how long did each time last? We are due go to a wedding on Saturday and my parents are supoosed to be having the children overnight (but I can't lumber them with a sick child).
