Bad posture and treatment on the NHS?

Hi all,

I've had quite bad posture for a few years, have been in the habit of sitting and standing in that curved position that it has become normal.

Just wondering is anyone else has had this and gone to the GP about it. What does the NHS offer to correct it, physio?

I wouldn't say it was severe, it doesnt hurt when i'm in that position. But it hurts when I try to sit/stand up straight.

Oh, has anyone found those posture corrector bras helpful?

TIA

I think you may be referred for physio if you are lucky.

Might even get a spine xray to check for underlying causes.

I wouldn't think a posture correcting bra would help.

Pilates or yoga could be worth looking into, or a good gym where an instructor could do you an exercise programme.

Agree with all of above. I'm very lucky to have been offered one to one Alexander Technique lessons. I've had five of eight. My teacher has the most beautiful posture. Be aware though that it involves a lot of input from yourself.

Have a look at this and try the guided lying down for a few days if thou are interested. I think it's great and I have a seriously fucked back.

Alexander Technique is the dgs b*cks . Absolutely the way to go .

Worth paying for a few sessions so that you get the hang of the constructive ease/lying on the floor .

I was told to avoid the back braces/bra as they do the work for your muscles which makes them weaker.

I had a few sessions with a physio, but you do need to put the effort in yourself.

You can get a lumoback from apple, which buzzes when you are sitting/standing incorrectly and tracks everything on what looked like a iPod type thing.

Pilates is supposed to be better than yoga as it strengthens your core.
