I'm really struggling with this and have been since having my baby 5 months ago. I've tried everything but nothing seems to be helping and it appears to be getting worse.

Does anyone have any advice please?

Thanks in advance

I am covered in this and have tried everything, to no avail. I exfoliate regularly which seems to help a bit.

What have you tried to use?

LordEmsworth · 13/07/2014 11:42

I used to use Clinique Total Turnaround body cream, which started to make a difference the very first time I used it - but now they've discontinued it...

It's much better than it was, I use the Palmer's Cocoa butter with AHAs in (bluey green bottle) and that seems to keep it at bay. So basically, a body lotion with salicylic acid/other exfoliating ingredients which are going to keep up the exfoliating all day.

Sunshine is meant to help, if it's somewhere you can bare it (mine is top of thighs at back, so doesn't get much daylight!)

Have any of you been made aware that it can be a symptom of metabolic syndrome, due to insulin resistance? It's a pre-diabetic (type II) condition and can be entirely reversible with dietary change.
www.dermnetnz.org/systemic/metabolic-syndrome.html - keratosis pilaris is listed under "Miscellaneous" in the "Skin Manifestations" section.

The only time mine improves is when I go in a jacuzzi on holiday.

Blimey Thumbwitch, I didn't know that! Interesting...

i have this and also a few other aymptoms of metabolic thingummy in that link. ooer!

usually mine improves a bit in the summer but not this year.

i have it on my legs and bum, and it improves if i bath/ shower every day without fail, scrub and then moisturise afterward, also shave my legs regularly to remove sticky keratin and to keep hairs from ingrowing.

i also use the moisturiser with fake tan in it as at least a bit of colour disguises the redness more

I've seen this recommended on here before (photo attached) but I think you need a prescription for it, so would have to ask your doc for it.

All my DCs have this, as I always have done. I find sunshine helps and lots of exfoliating/moisturising, but I'd like to try this cream. My poor DSs both have really rough skin.

Thanks all.

I've tried exfoliating and moisturising religiously daily but made no difference.

I've read a lot to suggest pure Virgin coconut oil would reverse it in a week or 2, having paid £16 a pot this has not made a bit of difference!!

The sun seems to make it worse.

It actually really burns and itches at times Sad It's really getting me down, I've literally never had it before until I had my baby???

Try Flexitol Heel Balm....this has been the subject of many threads over the years.

Due to the high level of urea it works.
