I had an operation on Tuesday and I still don't feel normal.

Getting very tired doing the basic of things.

Is this normal.

Snap! Grin
I had an operation on Tuesday too and I'm knackered!!
I got up, had breakfast, put the washing on then had to have a lie-down.
DH got back from taking DD riding and said he'd go to Sainsbury's. I insisted on going too as I'm a mad control freak I need some exercise. I got back and lead down again all afternoon and I could happily go to bed now.
It's normal to be tired for a week after a GA but obviously it depends what sort of op you had as to how long it will take you to recover. Flowers

ICanSeeTheSun · 12/07/2014 18:31

I can't even do washing or housework in general had a knee op where the pilica was removed. So not at all mobile.

Going upstairs to toilet leaves me wiped out for hours.

What did you have done.

I had a craniotomy and removal of a benign brain tumour which sounds dramatic but at least I'm perfectly mobile and the pain isn't too bad.
I think you're going to have to forget housework, just getting up and down to the loo will be enough for you.

Expect to feel crap for a week but I hope you start to feel better as soon as possible. Smile

Harry1603 · 12/07/2014 20:20

I was the exactly the same. I actually felt worse 3 or 4 days after the op than the day after. I was told that the anaesthetic takes a while to get out of your system.

Hope you feel better soon.

It's really normal! I used to work in theatres and if we had a week's leave, the exhaustion on returning was awful. It will pass.

ICanSeeTheSun · 12/07/2014 20:43

Hopefully soon. I suppose the tablets I'm on is also to blame 30/500 co codimol and 500 irobufen

Is anyone else feeling low and feeling useless.

ATM I really don't feel myself, I am normally a happy person but all I seem to do is cry.

Hope you all recover quickly. Especially the poster who has had brain surgery.

Thanks OP, I'm feeling a bit pathetic and just had a whine, to DH that my head was SORE!
I couldn't even finish my glass of wine - that is tragic! Wink
We'll be fine in a few days, by Tuesday we'll be a a week post-op. Smile

ICanSeeTheSun · 12/07/2014 21:12

Can't even drink ( not that's insane)

Was fun going around tesco in a wheelchair even though I was knackered after lol

ICanSeeTheSun some GA can leave you with the blues a few days afterwards, this is normal too and will pass.

I had surgery on 26th June and a trip to our cricket ground for a couple of hours and one walk around the boundary has left me flat out. Give yourself time to recover and only do,as much as you feel like (though try and do a little bit every day).

SauvignonBlanche · 12/07/2014 21:36

I just had a Magnum, that cheered me up, can recommend it!

ICanSeeTheSun · 12/07/2014 21:38

I have chinese on route, been subjected to DH cooking since Tuesday so it will be a nice change.

ICanSeeTheSun · 13/07/2014 21:48

How is everyone feeling today. Spent all day in bed apart from a shower which I had to get DH to help.

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 14/07/2014 10:15

Glad to see this is normal, and Thanks to all those recovering. DH had an operation (to pin his ankle back together) on Thursday, and I was worrying slightly that he is just too shattered to even get out of bed today (was more active yesterday, so I suspect he overdid it).

SauvignonBlanche · 14/07/2014 11:59

I tried to do too much yesterday, I walked to the Spar shop to buy a paper in the morning (just a couple of streets away), went to Aldi with DD to get her a new wet suit in the afternoon.

DH said he'd cook dinner but he was on the phone to his DSis (about me) so wasn't doing it quickly enough for DS's liking (he has AS) so I got up and did it, it was only fajitas but when I sat down I thought I was going pass out!

I'm going to take it easier today. Have been for an amble with DH and our elderly dog, picked up some prunes from Sainsbury's (the codeine is playing havoc with my bowels!) and am now reading the paper with my feet up.

Hope your knee is getting better OP? It'll be a week tomorrow, doesn't time fly?
