my dd has been more grouchy the last few days. my mum reckons that she might be teething as she has been dribbling and putting her hands in her mouth even when she's been fed. is this possible at 10 weeks? and what can i do about it?

I think the discomfort starts along time before the teeth come through, but it seems to stop and start, someone discribed it to me as 'itchy gums' which sounded less distressing than teething pain, i thought it was a nice way off putting it. I found ashton and parsons teething powders seemed to help a bit and certainly won't do any harm.

yep defenitely possible for it to be 'itchy gums' I like that expression

We just used to put a teether in the fridge for dd and ds to chew on as we got fed up with gnawed upon fingers

If it got really bad we used calgel which seemed to help. A friend of mine used chamomilla powder granules that seemed to help with her lo.

Are you sure she hasn't just 'discovered' her mouth and is fascinated by it?

Though it could be teething, one of my neices was born with one bottom tooth, which made establishing breastfeeding quite ouch!

Thanks for answering so quickly. She is definitely not herself at the moment and seems to be crying a lot more - esp at feeding time (Breast feeding). Will try the suggestions.
