Any thyroid experts about?

I had DD2 in August last year. After getting a virus at Christmas I have had regular blood tests for my thyroid after tests at Christmas showed it was playing up.

From what I gather, im neither over or under, but the thyroid is working extra hard to keep my levels normal.

They keep asking me to return for further tests, but haven't told me what the long term plan is.

I'm always tired and after a full nights sleep, I still wake up shattered. I sweat a lot and always feel warm. These are symptoms I've had for years though so ive no idea if it is thyroid related.

Should I be pushing for thyroxine?

I should add -

I'm also really struggling to lose the baby weight. I'm being very honest with myself and following a healthy diet with plenty activity and it's just not shifting.

Having had my older DD I know that what I'm doing should be shifting the pounds but for some reason it's not working.

You need to find out what your results are - including the norm ranges

What number am I actually looking for? I have some results from earlier in the year.

Results I have are:

TSH - 0.01
Free T4 - 17
Total T3 - 2.1
Free T3 - 5.1

Is this any use?

Tsh suggests you may be hyperthyroid so it's over active?

I agree. In which case you may need anti-thyroid medication. Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies also?

My most recent tests showed TSH at

Do you have the ranges for those results?

Certainly your TSH is low and almost certainly below range, but we can't assess what may be happening without the reference ranges. These vary from place to place, so an FT4 of 17 would be low/mid range where I live, but might be over range somewhere else. Do you see?

If your TSH is below range and your FT4 AND FT3 are above range then you may well be hypERthyroid,

On the other hand, if your TSH is below range and your FT4 and FT3 are mid-range, then you cannot be hyPERthyroid and there will be something else entirely going on.
