Ive had a freckle on my arm, it started growing about 3 months ago, it feels like a little ball under my skin, the last month or so (maybe longer) it went a bit scabby, the scab comes off every now and then when in the bath but then scabs over again.
Ive tried take a picture but its not very clear. I don't want to bother going the doctors if its just turning into a mole.

does anybody know what this is?

Freckles don't turn into moles. That sounds like something that needs to be checked out by a Medical professional. I had two spots that never healed and had to have them both removed as they were rodent ulcers. Any change in skin should be checked out. It could be skin cancer. I don't want to worry you, just want you to take this seriously x

OP any skin changes need to be checked out. Your arm doesn't have to be falling off for it to be worthy of a visit. It could be anything - rodent ulcer, fungal infection, a small cyst etc. Your surgery may have a GP who specialises in Dermatology so ask, but either way, get it checked. Don't delay.

Thanks, I'll make an appointment tomorrow, the doctors at my surgery tend to make you feel a bit stupid if you go to see them and its nothing to worry about.

I hope it is nothing to worry about, but don't let attitudes of GPs prevent you from seeking reassurance. Do let us know how you get on.

onedev · 29/06/2014 09:24

I agree, get it checked out.

Absolutely go to the gp. You're certainly not wasting anyone's time. My dh had something similar and it was an unusual tumour (he had it removed and is completely fine btw!)

SpottyTeacakes · 29/06/2014 14:02

I agree get it checked. See if any of your gps specialise in dermatology and ask for a routine appt with them. The one at out surgery will remove it himself so no need to go elsewhere Smile

Just a thought, I'm seeing the nurse this week for a smear test, do you think I should just ask her what she thinks of it?

I had a bath earlier and the scab has come off again, it looks like a little scar now, ive attached a pic (hopefully)

does anybody know what this is?

I can't see pics on the app. If it was a nurse at my practice they would advise you to see a gp you may get an appt quicker though if it's on the advice of the nurse Grin

It looks like a nipple Grin

See the Doctor. A nurse will only say to see a doctor. I am one, so see the frigging doctor ok? Grin

anyoldname76 · 01/07/2014 00:42

Grin it does look like a nipple on that picture doesn't it!!!!

Ive made an appointment to see the doctor today, got to wait 2 weeks before I can get in, I thought the nurse will probably advise me to see the doctor, and knowing the surgery where I go I thought I'd book it today rather than waiting till Friday.

Good idea. Sounds like where I work. Too many patients not enough hours in the day Grin
