Is it milk that's causing me to feel like this?

Quite often recently I've had indigestion-y/heartburn-y type feeling after my morning milky latte or, on a couple of occasions, after a bowl of cereal with milk. It's like an uncomfortable feeling from my throat down to my stomach. Slight burning feeling, also feels like you do when you've eaten way to much and it's sitting heavily in your stomach. Feeling can last all morning.
It's not the same as the indigestion I got when pregnant though.

The common denominator seems to be milk so could this be causing it and , if so, why as I've never had a problem with it before?

Stupid thing is I should be taking on more milk (or calcium in some form) as I have poor bone density!

(Brief background if relevant - age mid-late 40s, never had any issues with allergies or intolerances to any foods in the past that I know of, but have had high up stomach pain under ribs on and off for past 6-7 years -gallbladder problems checked for but it was decided it was a type of IBS)

Sounds a bit like the reflux problem I had. Spicy food such as curries, bread, tomatoes etc. brought it on.

The valve in the top of your stomach weakens and the acid returns up the oesophagus.

At worst it felt like a heart attack and I had an ambulance out as my oesophagus had gone into spasm.

You can get tablets from your GP but best to try avoiding spicy rich foods first. Sometimes milk caused it but funnily enough a milky drink before bedtime seemed to line my stomach.

It's not an ulcer is it?

I would get it checked out if poss.

Thanks both.

Just read about reflux on NetDoctor and it does sound like that.

I'm a bit disheartened to see coffee, chocolate and alcohol listed as things to avoid though! What's left for my enjoyment?!
