hi

I spent a day at hospital because I collapsed at work and the paramedic found I had an strange heartbeat, it beats one and then beats again so doubles up its beats

finally managed to escape hospital late last night as there was nothing they could do for me, but I left with no advice other then eat more banana s and come back as an out patient

should I have a cup of tea? that's what I was doing yesterday morning when I felt unwell?

can anyone please give me more information ?

Well, caffeine isn't great for heart rhythm problems so have something caffeine-free for preference.
Having said that, I gave up caffeine when I had palpitations and fast heart rate and it made no difference at all! Still off it because I don't want to give it any excuse to play up.

It is so frightening, I have much sympathy. But anxiety makes it worse so if you can possibly find a way to relax then do! Multivitamin and minerals help me with the anxiety: something to do with brain chemistry I guess.

If they are saying to eat bananas they are concerned about potassium - ie you not having enough.

Arrhythmia covers everything that is not 'normal sinus rhythm' and we all have them occasionally.

If they have let you home with no follow up then it is probably just one of those things. Sorry not much help and obviously you are worried but it happens that way sometimes.

i have decaffinated tea only , no coffee, cola ect
low potassium , can cause arthymias(sp) so thats why you were told to eat bannanas - i eat 1 a day.

thank you for the update

I had forgotten about caffeine t bags

the doctor said some medicine like my asthma drugs can set it off so now I've got to chose between heart issues or breathing issues Hmm

I get this, my GP has assured me it's not serious. The heart skips a beat, then doubles up to try to get the normal rhythm back. Mine comes and goes, I can go through months without feeling it. He's said it will sort itself out but they can prescribe something if it gets too annoying.
