I take norethisterone (Micronor).
No side effects that I noticed, but none of the benefits of the combined pill, so I still get the migraines, irregular cycles, erratic periods and pain that I had when on no Pill at all.

The listed side-effects for mefenamic acid don't sound too nice though...

Whoops, meant to say I'm on Micronor for contraception rather than hormone replacement, which might make a big difference.

I was taken off the combined (ie normal) Pill and put on Micronor when my mum had a DVT - turns out both me and my sister have some genetic clotting disorder.
My sister's GP let her carry on with the combined pill so long as she takes a low dose aspirin every day to counter the clotting risk - worth asking your GP about?

Sorry you had a bad time at the GP - I'd make another appointment and make a list of things you want to ask, else it's easy to get intimidated and forget.
Is your GP a woman? Is s/he nice? If not and you think it'd be better if s/he was, see if you can make an appointment when you know your GP isn't there so you get to see someone else at the practice.

i ahd the dvt so there is no way i can go back on the pill and i feel a bit crap really i had to be sterillised last time i dont really want contraception to solve the problem, she is usually good my doctor it was her first day back today after maternity leave i think i will try taking the tabs and go back to someone else after, i am a bit concerned because of the amount of side effects listed with the tab, and i am now having to take 6 tabs a day to try and solve the problem of a womb that is redundant anyway, thanks for replying anyway
