O.k. more an aestetic beauty question than a health question ...

Had dd 4.5 years ago and ds 2 years ago. Now back to pre baby weight, BUT the skin on my tummy is 'ruffled' for lack of a better word .

Anybody come across a 'miracle' cure/cream whatever that helps the skin back to it's former shape? I work out, I eat lots of fruit, drink lots of water and use oodles of body lotion, Nivea Firming atm, but to no avail.

This is not a cellulite problem it's lust too much skin.

Anybody found anything that really assists regress?

Ta

I wish I could find one too. My tummy is like crepe paper. I had ds 3.5 yrs ago and dd 1 yr ago. I'm slimmer than before I got preg so its def not fat/extra weight. I usually just cover it up. Would love to be able to wear my bikinis again though.
I tried 'Bio Oil' all through my preg and after but I didn't do anything. Its meant to help prevent stretch marks and also help repair them. Its for scars too. It didn't work for me but it might for you.

tummy tuck?

princessmel · 08/09/2006 10:24

lol jabba

MrsBigD · 08/09/2006 10:25

Didn't get stretch marks during pg, got those a long time back when I was really overweight.

Yes, 'crepe paper' describes it perfectly. The excess skin problem gets worse the skinnier you get because nothing there to 'fill' it in. DH suggested I work my stomach muscles a bit more, but that still wont reduce the skin will it now...

and he wasn't being mean when he said it he's very loving and supportive and loosing weight alongside me - well he's got more to loos actually and is doing very well. His skin seems to be bouncing back nicely though... bstrd

Long t-shirts and hipster avoidance.

MrsBigD · 08/09/2006 10:27

ROFL defo no hipsters for me anyhow hate that kind of fashion. Unless you're nearly anorexic or REALLY fit/trim it just looks daft imho

Thats true about the long t shirts. I hate it when I pick up dd and my top goes up and everyone sees my wrinkles/creases. My sis says "you wouldn't have the kids if it weren't for them" but guess what, she hasn't had kids therefore is still smooth!

MrsBigD · 08/09/2006 10:37

Just had a look at the Nivea site...

Apply NIVEA body Sculpting and Smoothing Cream Q10 Plus afterwards and massage gently into your skin: the CoEnzyme Q 10 effectively improves firmness and smooths the skin. Active Isoproteins are plant extracts of soy that are known to boost collagen production your skin is refined to give a smoother belly, thighs and buttocks. Caring moisturisers leave the skin feeling supple and soft.

Smoother belly!? Well alright the skin is smooth but still crepe'y ... gotta find something industrial strenghth eh?

Crap isn't it. On the plus side the rest of me looks thinner. Roc do a ream that got a good rating from Makeupalley. Can't remember the name but it is specifically for tum and arms.

nailpolish · 08/09/2006 10:43

I think it's called body sculpt

MrsBigD · 08/09/2006 11:00

jabberwocky only just saw your post LOL yeah sure tummy tuck and boob lift if I had the money!

Just looked up Roc Body Sculpting and found this review:

I have used this in the past, it does make your skin feel very smooth but I don't think it makes much difference at all to cellulite and I probably wouldn't buy it again, as you don't get good enough results for the money. I have heard that L'Oreal perfect slim is supposed to be really good though, and it is quite a bit cheaper than the Roc stuff!

I was wondering if I had offended you.

Seriously, I keep telling dh that soon I'm going to start my cosmetic surgery account. I want to age like Cher!

foxinsocks · 08/09/2006 16:33

I have this too and I have to say that stomach exercises don't work for it - I can feel my muscles getting nice and tight under the skin but the crepe-paper like skin ruffle still stays on top!

I do think that some of it disappears when you exercise but it's probably only the bit that had some fat in it while the skin doesn't change (iyswim!)

MrsBigD · 08/09/2006 18:25

I know exactly what you mean FIS I'm now scouting the pharmacists and beauty shops windows to see what they're advertising LOL... most things are for cellulite though and that's not the issue... wake up beauty industry and target 'crepe tummy'
