Ever since I had dd1, 6 and a half years ago, I havea had a little haemmoroid. It is mostly no bother but is occasionally itchy, and a bit swollen, before going away again. Its not bothered me for a while now, but I have had some diahorrea this week - always do with my period - and my little friend has swollen up adn is really really sore. The doc said it would go away on its own but I have had it for over 6 years and it is almost 3 years since I had a baby - though I did have 3 in quick succession.

Anyone else? Do they ever go away or is it a friend for life now?

I think they stay for life - probably not what you want to hear. I had them with ds1 and ds2 and they can still flare up from time to time (though nothing like as bad as they were in pregnancy). Get some cream from the chemist (the dread Preparation H!) or if they are really bad go back to your GP and insist on steroid cream - that's the only thing that eased the agony for me after childbirth.

If you are feeling a bit flush (appprox £15 from memory) then go to www.amoils.com and get their healing hemerroids (really must learn how to spell it) oil. I used the one with the letter P after it (for pregnant/breastfeeding women) but assume that the normal one works just as well. I tried three creams from the chemist before this and they didn't touch it, but this worked. Can't guarantee it won't ever ever ever come back, but as these people say, their treatments always always work.
