What can I take to help with bad PMS?

Since having my last baby I have really bad PMS. For 2-3 days of the month I cannot operate like a normal person I'm like a madwoman, and when I'm over it and look back at how I behaved, I hardly recognise myself.

Being around 2 small children and having this type of PMS is not good. I have this feeling like I'm going to burst out of my skin and I need to get away and be by myself. I can't, of course, but it doesn't stop the feeling being there.

I am past the breastfeeding stage so I wondered if there is anything I could take to help alleviate the symptoms of this horrid PMS.

Hey Janejo, I too have suffered from bad PMS and have been taking Starflower Oil capsules (1000mg??) and a Magnesium OK complex I think it is called, both available from Holland & Barrett. The complex includes all the B6, zinc, magnesium and other bits & bobs that they recommend for PMS. I think the hormonal upset of childbearing could be partly to blame and things will settle down of their own accord, but after having my Mirena coil removed to rid me of synthetic hormones (whole other thread!), it has taken a year for me to feel more like my old self. Not saying it will be the same for you though as I was down to 2-3 GOOD days per month, the rest I was psychotic! It is certainly worth a try. As is deep breathing and trying to get an hour or two for yourself, just to do nothing if that is what you need, or go swimming/running/exercise...

Good luck, it is awful to feel not in full control of yourself! I know!
