I am in agony, I think it is radiating from a tooth but I cant be sure, one side of my face hurts including my ear and throat and jawline. I have a weird white circle on my face skin as if the skin on this spot is tighter than elsewhere if that makes sense. I have taken every painkiller I can get my hands on including dyhydrocodien ad nothing is touching it.
I was on nights last night and I just cant sleep the pain is so bad.

I am thinking it must be some kind of infection or absess but I dont know if that is urgent or just risiculously painful.
Please sxcuse thae daft questions but I have had 2 hours sleep. What if anything can I do? I am back in work tom and I cant take any time off.

Please go to your local walk in centre, it sounds like and abcess and they will be able to give you antibiotics, If it is anything more serious they will tell you to go to a&e. You have my sympathy, there is nothing worse than tooth ache and earache rolled into one.

^^ this.

And get to a dentist for proper treatment before it happens again. Because it will. These things don't happen overnight and are 99.9% of the time preventable.

ok I called 111 as it said to do this on my dentists website, they got a gp to call me, she said they cant help as it is a dental problem. Dr on line adviced to go to A&E but htat seems a wee bit over the top.

Ok. What painkillers have you taken? What do you have in the house?

bonzo77 · 22/06/2014 14:38

Oh, and do you have any swelling or difficulty swallowing?

Mrsmorton · 22/06/2014 14:56

Where in the uk are you? There should be out of hours dental care in place but it's not 24hours. Antibiotics are not the correct treatment for this unless you have swelling and that's probably all you'd get from A&E. You should call 111 back and say you want a dentist, not a GP.

ditavonteesed · 22/06/2014 15:02

have spoken to 111 again and they said I do need a dentist but the emergency one closes at 5 and they have been given 6 hours to contact me so unlikely that I will get an appointment.
There is swelling all round my jaw and cheek on the left side. I have taken full dose of paracetamol, ibuprofen, cocodemol and some dihydracodiene and nothing has helped for more than an hour. I have nothing else I can take.

The pain has increased over the course of the night since I got to work at 7pm last night and is so bad I have been unable to sleep for more than an hour at the hieght of pain relief.

You need to go to a dentist.. but be aware that some mouth problems can turn very serious. Go to a&e for some antibiotics if you have to.

The thing is a dentist will not sort out an abcess, You need antibiotics.

cats are you a dentist because that is complete bollocks. I hope you're not, I see patients with abscesses frequently, I drain the abscess or extract the tooth and prescribe if necessary. I'm a dentist. Shock

bonzo77 · 22/06/2014 18:39

OP yes a&e for weekend swelling. Dentist ASAP after finishing antibiotics.

cats yes, you're talking bollocks. Dental abcesses are bread and butter to dentists.

ditavonteesed · 22/06/2014 19:00
