never seen this before, it was so scary I was going to call 999, it lasted about a minute she was screaming ans shouty, and kicking her legs. I suppose it lasted a minute but seemed longer. I gave her dummy and she is quiet and sleepy now. Was this a nightmare a night tremor? or is she too young? what should I do?

Hi me23 - I'd say it was the night terrors or just a dream.
I know its quite distressing - has she been well today?

me23 · 06/09/2006 21:15

hi, she hasbeen in a great mood except earlier when she was at the childminders she had a fall and bumped her head it is a big bump on the forehead and bruised. but she hasnt shown any smptoms of concussion.

If you are really concerned you could always NHS direct - but I think it could possibly be just a coincidence. If she calmed down when you gave her the dummy then I don't think it can be anything serious. Like I said just night terrors or a bad dream. How long ago was it that she bumped her head?

me23 · 06/09/2006 21:35

she bumped her head at 11, but I think it might be a coincedednce becuase the childminder said dd only creid for 2 minutes when it happended. Plus she has shown no signs of illness today. She is sleeping peacefully now so I think it wasa bad dream, I just thought she was too young it's strange to think of her imagination 'dreaming' something up and he rbeing scared!
Thanks for your advice.

DS got his first nightmare at about 12 months or so and woke up screaming and thrashing around. It completely freaked out DH and I, but after I picked him up he settled down and went back to sleep - I don't think he ever woke up properly.

So it could just be a nightmare?

me23 · 06/09/2006 22:14

thanks poteroo I just googled night terrors in toddlers and it fits what happened to a t! so I am relieved.
It also saYS they don't remember what happened, so that's reassuring.
