Earplugs for grommet wearers

Does anybody know of where I can get earplugs made to measure for my 4yr old who is about to get his second set of grommets but is also now having swimming lessons which I don't want to stop but also don't want to encourage ear infections.

Contact your local audiology dept or private hosp (they usually have someone come in). The private ones are more exp (IIRC about £40) but they last about a year and are well worth it. DD2 has had to have them for the last 7 yrs due to an unhealed perforation.

How do they work? do you have to wear one of those headbands aswell? Will he still be able to hear his swimming teacher?

sorry - just spotted this. The earplugs look like fruit gums! but they're moulded to the ear. They are a bit awkward to get in and out, and they do muffle the hearing a bit but dd2 has been able to go through all the normal swimming stuff (include lots of diving in and swimming underwater) with no problems. Well worth it imo
