Has anyone here recovered from chronic fatigue?

And if so how did you do it?

I just want to do something! I have been looking on line and different things are popping up. I am open to trying something but as it is all quite expensive I can't afford to try everything.

Just wondered if anyone here had any experiences that they could share or any suggestions.

You are right Kate, I am not too far off that already! I would need to give up dairy. Maybe I should try soya milk/yogurt.

plot I think sugar, gluten and dairy are the main ones to focus on. Obviously you could eliminate them in turn, but it can be easier to do a full on elimination then reintroduce each separately to check reaction. Depends which seems less challenging for you.

For anyone looking at the mercury poisoning, consider amalgam fillings too, I'm no expert in relation to ME/PoTS but they definitely cause health issues for some people.

That sounds manageable actually, the big change would be dairy but I don't eat much in the way of gluten already and I try to avoid sugar although dark chocolate is a bit of a down fall! Need to investigate soya milks then.

Thanks for looking the list up for me! I really just want to feel I am doing something, it is too depressing otherwise.

careful with soya as high in lectins which can damage to gut if you are sensitive and might cause autoimmune conditions. take a look at paleo (disclaimer not into paleo but some interesting stuff there). Coconut milk, almond milk might be better. sometimes goat or sheep cheeses are ok. Other lectins high in grains, dairy, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, aubergines. Head for root veg and green leaves.

Dr jan de fries. He is the most amazing doctor I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Cannot recommend this doctor enough. It would take too long to write down mine and my family's experience. But the results in the treatment has been incredible. If anyone has ongoing health issues and feels at the end of their tether please give this doctor a chance. You will not be disappointed.

I was diagnosed with it 30 years ago. I remember sleeping for a good few months. There wasn't really any treatment that I can remember. I did see a dietitician who recommended I go gluten and dairy free, which I did for 12 years.

I wouldn't say I've regained my former energy levels but I manage fine these days. Just try not to overdo it really and gradually build up what you are doing. Whereas I used to do aerobics, I now walk and swim. I think graded exercise is the current thinking.

There are some really good dairy substitutes now (Swedish Glace Ice Cream for one). Gluten can be a bit hit and miss but it's definitely improving all the time. The corn pastas are really good. Heinz have a tendency to thicken things with corn rather than wheat.

Sorry I meant to say I don't think mine was nearly as severe as some of the cases mentioned here.

Agreed awesome - soya and corn follow hot on the heels of gluten and dairy in causing people problems so you could think about eliminating these too if you want OP, although it's harder than it sounds if you start checking ingredient labels Smile

I've been learning Alexander Technique for another problem but it's very suitable for CFS. I really recommend giving it a go.

My SIL has recovered well after several years of misery. She still tires quite easily and is very disciplined in taking time out when she needs to.
